The family of Donavon Charles DeFosse announces his passing and the beginning of his heavenly life with Jesus after a courageous 4 year battle with Acute Myloid Luekemia, on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at the age of 78 years old.  Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife Barb of 56 years and his four children Jeff (Cheryl), Debbie (Brad), Lee (Tiffany) and Ashley.  Don will also be fondly remembered by his 4 grandchildren Lexie, Kenzie, Aiden and Alex.

Don was born on March 20,1940 in Mediapolis, Iowa.  The son of Charles and Alice (Walberg) DeFosse. After graduating from Mediapolis Community High School he joined the Iowa Army National Guard for 6 years.  On July 28, 1961, he married Barbara Brown in Pleasant Grove, IA. He worked for Champion Spark Plug for 32 years and after retirement at 52 he started his second career as a bus driver for the Mediapolis School District.  His final day of driving was the day he was diagnosed with AML on November 4, 2014.  Don enjoyed spending time with his family, laughing and watching his Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals.  As well as being outdoors working around the farm and taking care of his animals which included his pet Llamas.  He loved his faith and sharing his faith with others.

Don was known for his gentle kind spirit and always having a smile on his face.  Don often helped others without expectation of receiving recognition.  Even on his last days his wish was for his children to take care of his loving wife Barb.

Funeral Services for Donavon will be held Monday, January 7, 2019, at 10:30 AM at First Assembly of God in Burlington, Iowa. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date. Family will greet friends Sunday, January 6, 2019, from 2-5 PM at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, IA
